Air Fryer Spinach Balls – Crispy, Cheesy, and Ready in a Flash

Air Fryer Spinach Balls

Busy day, empty fridge, and not much time to cook? These Air Fryer Spinach Balls are the kind of quick comfort food that makes dinner feel special with almost no effort. They’re golden and crisp on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside, and you can have them on the table in about forty minutes.

I love how easy they are. You just cook the spinach, mix it with egg, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, and a handful of diced provola cheese, then roll everything into small balls and let the air fryer do its magic. No oil splatters, no frying smell — just that light, irresistible crunch that turns something so simple into a dish you’ll crave again and again.

What makes them shine is balance: the spinach gives freshness, the Parmesan adds that deep savory note, and the provola melts right in the center, turning each bite into a soft, gooey surprise. They’re delicious on their own, but even better with a fresh tomato salad or roasted veggies on the side.

How to Make Spinach Balls in the Air Fryer

Cook the spinach in a small pot with a little water for a few minutes until wilted. Drain well and squeeze out every bit of liquid.
Chop the spinach finely or pulse it briefly in a food processor.

In a bowl, mix the spinach with the egg, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper until you get a soft but compact mixture. If it feels too moist, add a touch more breadcrumbs.

Shape small balls with your hands, pressing a cube of provola into the center of each one.
Place them in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap, and cook at 360°F (180°C) for about 15 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and slightly crisp.

How to Store Them

Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat them in the air fryer for three or four minutes to bring back their crispiness. You can also freeze them — either raw or cooked — and air-fry straight from frozen by adding a few extra minutes.

Flavor Up!

If you want to play with the flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or garlic powder to the mix. You can swap provola for mozzarella or any mild melting cheese you like. These little bites also make great appetizers — try serving them with a yogurt dip or a simple tomato sauce for dipping.
